-Schuff Steel-Gulf Coast, Inc. is currently fabricating a total of 25,400 tons of structural steel for a refinery plant in Whiting, Indiana, and a refinery complex in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Schuff Steel-Gulf Coast, Inc. is the largest steel fabricator in the Houston area and specializes in both industrial and commercial steel fabrication. Schuff operates three steel plants in the Houston area, one of which specifically manufactures steel pressure vessels for industrial use. Schuff Steel-Gulf Coast is fabricating 14,000 tons of structural steel for the Whiting Refinery. The custom fabrication job is a modular design. Schuff worked with Fluor, an engineering, procurement, construction, and project management corporation, for approximately 12 months in preconstruction to design and plan the fabrication project. Schuff is also manufacturing pressure vessels for the plant. When complete in 2011, Whiting Refinery will be one of the largest refineries in the United States.
Schuff is fabricating 11,400 tons of structural steel for the refinery complex in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Fabrication is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2009.
In addition to the two current projects, Schuff will finish shipping steel fabricated for Exxon Neftegas in the first quarter of 2009. Schuff fabricated modular steel for the company’s oil refinery located on Sakhalin Island in the Pacific, off Russia’s southeastern coast.
